School History

The school became an accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in April 2012. The only school in Zhejiang Province to teach three of the IB Programs, PYP 2-11 yrs, MYP 10-13 yrs and DP 15-19 yrs.  

In 2015, having received a new license from the educational department, we became Ningbo Huamao International School (NBHIS). In 2015 also, NBHIS gained entry into the Round Square (RS) Conference of Schools.  The RS assists the school in offering a holistic education that builds persistence, resilience and an international mindset that focuses on helping others.  Students in Round Square schools can go on exchange to over 150 schools around the world, attend Round Square conferences with like-minded students and be involved in global service projects.  

The pillars of the RS are Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service (IDEALS) and are embedded into every aspect of school life, fitting well with IB philosophy, as both originate with educator, Kurt Hahn.
